How to connect to Expedia?

Expedia is one of the world's leading full-service online travel brands helping travelers easily plan and book travel. Another great option for you! Let's get started.

Getting Started

The connection with Expedia requires an Expedia account created. Unfortunately, if you don't have an account created already, you won't be able to create a new Expedia account due to their integration with VRBO.

If you already have an account, please, go to the Distribution section on the left menu (or click here).

  • In the Distribution section, open the distribution account created.

  • Select Expedia.

If you haven't created your Distribution account and pushed your listings to your Distribution account, please, follow this step-by-step guide before proceeding.

Connection with Existing Expedia Account

  • If you already have an Expedia account, connect it with the channel manager.
  • Copy the Hotel ID and input it into the channel manager.
  • Information such as currency and unit types will be pulled from Expedia.

Important considerations

If your Expedia account doesn't have the listings created:

    • Please, share the LEID (Legal Entity ID) with your Jurny onboarding representative. We can assist in pushing single-unit property listings to Expedia. However, if you have multi-unit property listings, you will need to create those on Expedia first.
  • If your account already has the listings created, then:
    • From your Expedia account, navigate to Account > Connectivity Settings.
    • Select the provider "QuickConnect" for an immediate connection.
    • Once completed, QuickConnect becomes available, allowing you to pull information from Expedia to Jurny.
  • Unit Mapping for Multi-Unit Properties:
    • For multi-unit properties, create them on Expedia first, then connect them to Jurny. Select all the properties that are needed, check the section below.
    • Use the "Connect This Room" button in Jurny to select multiple units associated with a unit type or inside a building.

How to map your units?

Once you added the Hotel ID, and you have your listings there, you will see your Expedia listings on the left side of the table. From there, you will see a Connect this Room red button. Once you click that button, you will see the listings that you have in your Jurny account.

From there, you just need to select which listings on Jurny belong to what unit type/building from your Expedia listing.

If this is a single-unit property, you just need to select one property. However, if this is a multi-unit property, you need to select all listings on Jurny that belong to that building on Booking.com

Setting Markup for Rates

This will be a step that we will ask during the process to set a markup for rates to cover transaction fees or OTA commissions. This additional percentage is added to the nightly rate and it won't be visible to your guests. Setting up a markup is optional.
  • The markup covers transaction fees or commissions charged by Expedia.

Post-Connection Processes:

  • After a successful connection, a green checkmark icon appears.
  • Modify the markup by clicking the "Manage Rate" button, and the changes will be reflected in the next scheduled sync.

Importing Bookings from Expedia

  • Importing pending or current bookings from Expedia is not possible. However, you can create direct reservations to block the dates that are already booked. You can still communicate with your customers. Please, be advised that for these direct reservations, the Jurny logo will appear instead of Expedia on your end.

Learn how to create a direct reservation on Jurny here.

  • Importing your old bookings is possible. Please, reach out to your onboarding representative and request this.

Unifying your Inbox

Your inbox will be unified automatically once you complete the integration! No further action is needed here.

Tax Remittance and Reservation Details

Upon connecting Expedia, you become responsible for remitting your taxes.

Expedia Collect and Virtual Credit Card

  • Expedia provides a virtual credit card that activates on the check-in day.
  • If Expedia Collect is enabled, Expedia will collect payments on behalf of the customer.
