Why Adding a Credit Card is Important
Storing a valid credit card on a reservation ensures a smooth payment process, minimizes the risk of failed transactions, and allows for seamless handling of charges and refunds. It also enhances the guest experience by simplifying payment management.
When to Add or Request a New Credit Card
- Insufficient Funds – If a guest’s credit card does not have enough funds to process a payment, they may want to use a different card. In this case, you can send them the secure link to add a new card.
- Rejected or Invalid Card – If the card was entered incorrectly, expired, or rejected during a transaction, the guest will need to update their payment information. Sending the secure link allows them to enter the correct details.
- Credit Card Issues – If there is any other problem with the credit card on file, such as suspected fraud or a temporary hold by the bank, you may need to request updated information. Sending the secure link ensures the guest can quickly add a new card without sharing sensitive details over the phone.
In any of these cases, providing the secure link is the best way to ensure the guest can easily update their payment details, reducing delays and ensuring a smooth booking experience.
Steps to Add a Credit Card
- Go to the Reservation Section – Navigate to the reservation list and select the reservation that requires a credit card.
- Open the Payments and Refunds Tab – Inside the reservation details, locate the “Payments and Refunds” tab.
- Click on the Plus Icon (+) in Payment Methods – This will prompt a new window where payment details can be added.
- Enter the Credit Card Information – You can manually enter the guest’s credit card details if they provide them over the phone, in person or if you have them already.
