What Is Airbnb Attribute Locking?
Airbnb has a system called attribute locking that controls how listing details are updated when you use property management software (PMS) like Airbnb and Jurny together.
When a field in your Airbnb listing is edited directly inside Airbnb, the platform automatically locks that specific field. Once locked, Airbnb will no longer accept updates to that field from your PMS.
This means that even if you update the information in Jurny, Airbnb will continue displaying the version that was last edited directly on their platform.
This process happens automatically in the background and does not require manual locking by the user. Anyone with permission to edit the listing on Airbnb can trigger the lock simply by making a change there.
Note: Attribute locking is part of Airbnb’s system design to prevent different platforms from overwriting listing data unexpectedly.
Why Some Changes Don’t Sync from Jurny to Airbnb
If you notice that updates made in Jurny—such as a new property description—are not appearing on Airbnb, attribute locking is usually the cause.
Here’s what typically happens:

A listing detail is edited directly in Airbnb.

Airbnb automatically locks that field.

Jurny sends updates to Airbnb as usual.

Airbnb ignores the update because the field is locked.
From Jurny’s side, everything may look correct, but Airbnb will continue displaying the version stored on their platform until the field is unlocked.
Tip: If you want Jurny to remain your main source of truth for listing details, avoid editing those fields directly in Airbnb.
Which Fields Can Become Locked
Several types of listing information can be affected by attribute locking. These typically include:

Listing title

Property description
-
Space or property details
-
Amenities
-
Location information
-
Check-in and check-out instructions
-
House rules
If any of these fields are edited directly in Airbnb, the platform may automatically lock them.
How to Unlock Attributes in Airbnb
The good news is that unlocking these fields is quick and easy. Once unlocked, Jurny will be able to update them again.
1. Log in to Airbnb
Sign in to your Airbnb host account.
2. Open Your Listings
Navigate to Listings and select the property you want to update.
3. Open Preferences
Click Edit preferences.
4. Go to Property Management Software
Select Property management software from the menu.
5. Find Locked Fields
Look for the section labeled “Not currently managed by Jurny.”
This section lists any attributes that are currently locked.
6. Switch Management Back to Jurny
Click Manage from Jurny instead for the fields you want to unlock.
7. Confirm the Change
Select Yes, allow to confirm.
Once completed, those fields will be unlocked and updates made in Jurny will sync to Airbnb normally again.
Best Practices to Avoid Sync Issues
To keep your listings syncing smoothly between platforms:

Use Jurny as the primary place to edit listing details.

Avoid editing locked attributes directly on Airbnb.

Check the Property Management Software settings if a field isn’t updating.
Caution: Editing fields directly in Airbnb may cause Jurny updates to stop syncing until the field is unlocked again.
